Archos Android tablets

7184

With five different models soon available, Archos gives you the choice of display size. Their new tablets will feature screens that measure 2.8, 3.2, 4.3, 7.0, and 10.1 inches.

Each tablet is also incredibly sleek. The Archos 101 (my fav) has a thiness of 12 mm and weighs only 480 g. I was amazed at how light the device felt in my hands (compared to other tablets) and the build quality was rock solid.

Apple’s Ping tops 1M users in two days, but it’s no Google Buzz

Apple announced just a few hours ago that it’s new music-centered social network Ping has surpassed 1 million users in a mere two days.

While the announcement may seem impressive, if you consider that iTunes has over 160 million accounts tied to credit cards (and certainly a lot more if you include accounts without cards), I’m honestly surprised Apple didn’t hit the 1 million line in 24 hours.

Apple’s Ping is a big pile of steaming dung

A few days agoApple released a social network. Gee, how bloody creative of them and they used to be so cool. There are enough social networks, too many actually. But I digress.

The Wilderness Downtown

This is a song by Arcade Fire. To view it, you must use the Chrome browser, and enter the address of your childhood home. It works best if there is a Google Street View of your address.

If you don't have one, use 120 South Cortez Street, Prescott, AZ, which is the address of my county courthouse. It will give you a good idea of how all this works. Have patience...

Very cool!!!

Gmail Priority Inbox

Gmail has always been pretty good at filtering junk mail into the "spam" folder. But today, in addition to spam, people get a lot of mail that isn't outright junk but isn't very important—bologna, or "bacn." So we've evolved Gmail's filter to address this problem and extended it to not only classify outright spam, but also to help users separate this "bologna" from the important stuff. In a way, Priority Inbox is like your personal assistant, helping you focus on the messages that matter without requiring you to set up complex rules.

Priority Inbox splits your inbox into three sections: "Important and unread," "Starred" and "Everything else":

USB 3.0 Implementations

You might think that the performance of one USB 3.0-equipped product would be (or at least should be) the same as another. If so, you'd be wrong. We found that five different components, all based on the NEC controller, deliver different performance.

Imation Link 5112 WUSB A/V streamer

C0c9

Unlike lots of other media streaming devices we've seen, this one is pretty straightfoward: the USB dongle plugs into your PC or Mac, the receiver plugs into your TV's HDMI input, and what you sees and hears (on your computer) is what you gets (on the TV). The Wireless USB connection will stream video up to 720p and still images up to 1080p, as well as stereo sound. Available now from Amazon and whatnot for $150.
